Rosemary oil has become a popular topic in hair-care discussions. Herby Factor lists a concentrated rosemary essential oil, traditionally named Roghan-e-Akleel Jabal, and instructs buyers to mix it with a suitable base oil before scalp application. It is different from a finished, ready-to-use hair treatment.
Why is a 2015 study often mentioned?
A six-month trial randomly assigned 100 people with androgenetic alopecia to rosemary oil or minoxidil 2%. Both groups had higher hair counts at six months than at baseline, with no significant difference between the groups at that point. Scalp itching was reported in both groups.
What that trial does not prove
A comparison that finds no significant difference is not, by itself, proof that two products are equivalent. The trial does not establish that every rosemary oil bottle, homemade mixture or type of hair loss will respond in the same way. The Herby Factor bottle has not been shown here to match the study formulation. Do not stop a prescribed treatment based on a social-media summary of the research.
Concentration is a practical issue
Follow the supplier's directions and obtain appropriate dilution guidance for the intended application; do not apply this concentrated oil neat to the scalp. Keep it away from eyes and do not swallow it. Stop use if the preparation irritates. Persistent, patchy or sudden hair loss needs an assessment so its cause can be addressed.
For formulators and regular buyers
Specify whether you need an essential oil ingredient or a ready-to-use cosmetic product. Ask for the available botanical and batch information and evaluate a sample in the finished application. Neither a strong aroma nor a botanical name alone verifies that a proposed hair blend has been tested for safety or effectiveness.
